Perched on top of a hill, the five-bedroom Mudgeeraba home is the work of interior designer Michelle Marco, who sought to capitalise on every aspect of the view while creating a luxury residence sympathetic to its environment.
The house appears to float above the city skyline.

“You have these incredible views which take in sunrise, sunset and the coastline,” Ms Marco said. “It’s just spectacular so that really dictated how we approached the design of the property.”
Spanning two storeys, the property boasts vast expanses of floor-to-ceiling glass as part of a cantilevered concrete and brick construction with 1112sq m of floor space under roof.

The lower level features a statement entry way and staircase along with a wine cellar, media room, and a basement that can house up to five cars.

“There’s great connectivity between upstairs and downstairs,” Ms Marco said. “It lives like a one-storey home but is the size of a two-storey.”

The property blends a brutalist design influence with soft, natural tones, taking cues from the surrounding environment.
“It overlooks the bush and trees out the back and the landscape dictated the internal colour palette,” Ms Marco said. “Even though its luxurious it still feels relaxed and like a cosy family home.”
There is no shortage of space in the property.
For Ms Marco, the property marked the realisation of an ambition.
“I’d always wanted to do this style of home,” she said.
“It sits on a concrete pad and appears as if it floats above the landscape. The design was driven by the elevation and topography of the block giving us the ability to capture those expansive views.”
Two years in the design and building phase, the house was completed in mid-2023 and boasts full automation, solar panels, and low-maintenance gardens. No expense has been spared on the interior fit-out, including oak herringbone flooring, Italian marble, bespoke timber cabinetry, and designer lighting.
The property is built on over a hectare of land.
Meanwhile the house sits on over a hectare of land, with views that encompass the Scenic Rim, Gold Coast skyline, and ocean.
“The views and the glass blend the indoors with the outdoors and how the house feels is dictated by what’s happening with the weather,” Ms Marco said. “It changes every day.
“Sunny days are different to cloudy days when the clouds meet you right at the doors and the windows.”
Having designed and built properties in the past, Ms Marco said she believed this home ticked a number of boxes in terms of size, scale, location and layout.
“It’s a big house that feels intimate and a lot of people comment on that,” Ms Marco said.
“It’s very restful when you come up that hill at the end of the day or the end of the week and there’s this sense of respite and calm.”
The property is listed with Cooper Markovitch and Michael Kollosche of Kollosche Broadbeach and is set to go to auction on January 31.
