Meghan Markle has shared a rare glimpse inside her $US14.65 million ($A20.9 million) California mansion as she posted an emotional tribute to her late rescue dog, Guy.

The Duchess of Sussex revealed that her beloved beagle of 10 years had passed away. She adopted him from a shelter in Canada, where she was filming the hit legal drama “Suits”.

The former actress posted a series of images and videos of her pup — including several clips taken inside her Montecito home, Realtor reports.

“I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too,” she wrote in her caption.

“Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know.”

Meghan noted that Guy had been by her side during many different stages of her life — beginning in 2015, when she was living in Canada, to her move to the UK, where she and Prince Harry got engaged and married, and then in California, where the Sussexes moved in 2020 after stepping down as senior working royals.

“He was with me at Suits, when I got engaged, (and then married), when I became a mum …. he was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort,” she continued in her caption.

In California, Guy lived with the couple and their two children, Archie and Lilibet, at their sprawling nine-bedroom, 16-bathroom Montecito home, with one clip showing Meghan embracing the pup in their sprawling wood-filled kitchen.

The Duchess is barefoot and clad in an apron in the footage, in which she is seen cooking up a big pot of tomato sauce on the kitchen’s large Viking range, pausing to bend down and scratch her beloved pooch.

Guy is also seen enjoying the grounds of the property with the family, as well as their other dogs, Puka and Momma Mia, both of whom were also rescued by Harry and Meghan.

Other video footage shows Guy being walked by Harry and Archie near a local horse farm, which looks very similar to a property that was purchased by the Sussexes’ close friend and fellow Montecito resident, Oprah Winfrey, in 2016.

Meghan also noted that Guy will play a prominent role in her new Netflix series, “With Love, Meghan,” which she filmed inside an $US8 million ($A12.8 million) home that is located just a few miles from her own Montecito abode.

Although the mother of two has not revealed why she chose to film the show at another location, she and Harry have been fiercely protective of their privacy since moving to their California home, sharing just a handful of images of the property in recent years.

In December, when the couple released their public Christmas card, they shared a sneak peek inside the grounds of the property in an image featuring themselves with Archie and Lilibet, who could be seen running along a path toward their parents in the expansive garden.

In the background of the image, the lush gardens of Harry and Meghan’s sprawling property provide the perfect setting for the sweet family moment.

The photo’s location is all the more meaningful given the significance of the property’s gardens in the couple’s lives.

In 2022, Meghan revealed in an interview with The Cut that the grounds were actually the reason she and Harry decided to buy the nine-bedroom estate in the first place.

“One of the first things my husband saw when we walked around the house was those two palm trees,” she shared. “We did everything we could to get this house.”

Harry and Meghan purchased the home in 2020, having relocated from the UK after announcing their decision to “step back as senior members” of the royal family.

Although Harry and Meghan have gone to great lengths to keep the interiors of their home private, they have shared a few small glimpses inside the property over the years — including images and clips that were aired as part of “Harry & Meghan.”

At one point, Meghan could be seen posing for a photo in the nursery, while another shot showed Harry in an office, taking calls on his laptop.

The Sussexes’ desire for privacy has rubbed one of their Montecito neighbours the wrong way.

Speaking in a German documentary “Harry: The Lost Prince,” Richard Mineards, one of their close neighbours, issued a scathing opinion of Meghan claiming that she has not been an “asset” to the neighbourhood.

“I personally don’t think that Meghan is an asset to our community,” he told the program.

“She doesn’t really go out or get involved with the community.”
