Queensland couple Wayne and Becca Car recently won this Mater Prize Home package which included a property at Helensvale on the Gold Coast.
Winning a Mater Prize Home package was a “dream come true” for Queensland’s Becca and Wayne Carr.
The couple, from Coorparoo in Brisbane, were in disbelief when they were told they had won a prize package valued at $5.2m, including a waterfront home at Helensvale on the Gold Coast, a Lexus vehicle, boat and $1 million in gold bullion.

“I thought it was a prank call,” said Mrs Carr, who works as a teacher.
“I said ‘I’m so sorry but I just don’t believe you’.
“I always used to say we were going to win but I never really believed we would.”

Mrs Carr, 57 said her family, including two adult children, were enjoying weekends at their new prize home with plans to retire early.
“I’m there most weekends just enjoying it at the moment,” she said.
“It’s honestly changed our life.
“I’m two years off retiring and I can actually retire now.”

Wayne and Becca Carr have plans to retire early after winning a Mater Prize Home package.
The couple were longtime supporters of Mater Prize Home with both of their children born at the Mater Hospital.
“We’ve actually supported them since my son was born in 2004,” Mrs Carr said.
“He was born at the Mater, and so was our daughter, but our son had a few issues and the Mater were really good. That’s why we started supporting them.”
