Renowned Melbourne guitar collector and businessman Con Gallin is set to put his English-style home under the hammer this weekend.

Mr Gallin, a celebrated Melbourne music figure, spent years amassing an enviable guitar collection with signatures from legendary artists such as Sir Paul McCartney, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and Les Paul.

Best known for his Prahran shop Gallin’s Musician’s Pro, which closed six years ago, the businessman also owned a Fishermans Bend commercial property that was the support office for Allans Billy Hyde. He held it from 2012 to 2016 — when he sold it for $7.53m

The guitar enthusiast’s Hawthorn home has $5m-$5.5m price hopes.

Gallin purchased the home for $682,000 in 1997.

According to CoreLogic data, Mr Gallin undertook at 93sq m extension to the property in 2005 where he spent $35,000 on the home.
