The homes of globally-recognised stars have been engulfed in the California wildfires raging across the state, causing thousands to flee.
More than 1000 buildings have been burned since the fires broke out on Tuesday morning local time, including a number of multimillion-dollar homes in the prestigious areas of Pacific Palisades, malibu and Santa Monica where many Hollywood celebrities live.
It includes mansions of The Hills stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, Leighton Meester and Adam Brody, Anna Faris, Paris Hilton, James Woods, while plenty other high-profile people’s properties remain under threat.
Paris Hilton
The hotel hieress and DJ has sadly lost her $13.54m (US$8.4m) beachfront home in Malibu after fires ravaged through the area.
Hilton and her husband Carter Reum purchased the property in 2021 which was then owned by the late Universal Pictures former chairman Tom Pollock.
The home, built in 1955, had three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a media room.
She posted on Instagram and said she was “heartbroken beyond words” after seeing her home in Malibu “burn to the ground”.
Matthew Perry’s former home
The Pacific Palisades home of the late Matthew Perry could also be destroyed after live tracking of the firefront revealed the property to be surrounded.
The home, where Perry died in October 2023 was bought just three months ago by a real estate developer for $13.7m (US$8.55m), Realtor reports.
The Friends star, who played Chandler Bing, died aged 54 after buying the residence months prior for about $8m (US$5m).
Movie producer and real estate developer Anita Verma-Lallian, who purchased the abode, posted on her Instagram to thank those who reached out during the fires.
She later confirmed that her family was “safe” and “awaiting updates.”
Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag
The Hills stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag have sadly lost their Los Angeles home, which they shared had burned to the ground.
Pratt posted on his Instagram that the Pacific Palisades mansion was gone and encouraged those in the state to stay safe.
It’s understood the couple purchased the three-bedroom in 2017 — which features a chef’s kitchen, an outdoor balcony and two bathrooms — for $2.5m (A$4.02m), according to the New York Post.
Luckily, the couple and their two sons managed to escape the fire.
Leighton Meester and Adam Brody
The Gossip Girl and The O.C. stars have also lost their $6.5m house in the deadly wildfires, according to Realtor.
The pair purchased the five-bedroom, four-bedroom mansion in 2019 which spans about 1800sq m.
Just two days ago, Meester and Brody were spotted at the Golden Globe awards, hours before the wildfires intensified through the Pacific Palisades.
Anna Faris
Actress Anna Faris, who has starred in the Scary Movie films and The House Bunny, has lost her home.
She purchased her Pacific Palisades abode in 2018 for $4.9m which has now been destroyed.
Ben Affleck
The famed actor, who has stared in blockbuster films such as Gone Girl and Good Will Hunting, has also reportedly fled his $33.1m (US$20.5m) house.
The New York Post revealed the 52-year old purchased the mansion located Los Angeles’ suburb Brentwood in July last year, at the time he and Jennifer Lopez were finalising the sale of their New York City penthouse amid their separation.
He evacuated the Brentwood estate — which features five bedrooms, a media room and a guest house — to his ex-wife Jennifer Garner’s house nearby with their three children.
The actor is among a long list of celebrities who have had their homes engulfed by flames.
