A last-minute bidder shocked the crowd at a Werribee auction, securing this family home well above reserve in a fiercely contested sale.


A surprise bidder made a last-minute decision to jump into the auction at 1 Carbon Crt, Werribee — walking away with the keys after the four-bedroom home sold for $570,000, just above the $500,000 –$550,000 price guide.

The unexpected move capped off a competitive auction, with three active buyers on the ground and an international investor in the mix.

YPA Wyndham City’s Kiarah Bagnato said the winning buyer hadn’t originally planned to bid but decided to make a move on the spot.

“They actually rocked up on the day, decided to jump in, and ended up securing the property,” Ms Bagnato said.

“They were ready to go, which made for a really exciting auction.”

Bidding opened at $450,000 before climbing past the price guide to its final sale price.

This updated brick home in Werribee’s older pocket drew strong interest, with its generous 590sq m block and prime location near transport and shops.

“Investors are becoming much more active, and first-home buyers are right there alongside them,” she said.

“Even unconditional offers, which can sometimes make buyers a little hesitant, aren’t holding people back.”

Spacious and inviting, the home’s four bedrooms — including a separate bungalow — offered versatility for families and investors alike.


The winning bidder hadn’t planned to buy — until they saw this Werribee home and jumped in at auction, securing it on the spot.


The updated brick home on 590sq m, less than a kilometre from Werribee Station and Watton St’s shopping precinct, features a renovated kitchen, timber floors, and a separate bungalow with a second bathroom.

Ms Bagnato said the buyer was an investor who planned to rent the home out immediately, with tenant discussions already underway.

The vendors, expecting a baby “any day now”, were thrilled with the result.

The YPA Wyndham city agent said Werribee’s affordability and investment potential is in focus from buyers and competition for homes in the area remains strong.

A separate bungalow with its own bedroom and bathroom was a key drawcard, offering rental potential or space for extended family.


The home’s generous backyard and quiet court location added to its appeal, making it ideal for families or those looking to add value.
