Here’s a house sale you can feel good about.
Selling a family home can be an emotionally difficult time, as sellers say goodbye to a house that’s served as the sourced of many wonderful memories.
But vendor Rosalee, who asked not to disclose her surname, is excited about the sale of her and her husband’s 26 Leane Ave, Allenby Gardens family home for one simple reason – five charities close to her heart stand to profit from its sale through a number of generous donations.

The home is scheduled to be auctioned at 2.30pm tomorrow through Vincent Doran and Thomas Crawford of Crawford Doran, and Rosalee said following its sale she will donate $5000 each to The Royal Zoological Society of South Australia (Adelaide and Monarto Zoos), Pankind Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, the Peter Nelson Leukaemia Research Fellowship Fund, Retired Police Dogs SA, and a palliative care organisation.
“Both my late mum Elizabeth and my late sister Mary were animal lovers, and Mary used to volunteer at Adelaide Zoo and Monarto Zoo and also work in fauna rescue,” Rosalee says.
“Depending on what happens at the auction, if it fetches an unexpectedly high price – because the home really does offer a lot – I’ll be upping these donations.”
Rosalee says the decision to donate to these charities was an easy one to make, and was a fitting way to honour her mother and sister.
“You can judge a society by how they treat the young and the old, and because I don’t want any elderly person in South Australia to pass on their own without people caring for them and being with them, I think this money can really help these people,” she says.
“They need to have someone with them while they’re going to their other life.
“I find it so pleasurable knowing that others will get to experience that same passion by these donations to these causes, and I want to give a lasting gift on their behalf to these organisations that are really important in our society – whether it be in conservation or care.”
The home, in Adelaide’s northwestern suburbs, sits on a 648.8sqm allotment and has three bedrooms, one bathroom and is surrounded by established gardens designed to attract birds, animals and butterflies.
“I’d really love for another family to buy this because our family has really our time here.”
