LOCATION is key in the property game and few homes can boast a finer position than this.
Tasmania’s most-viewed home of the year was a classic Federation stunner at Kingston Beach that overlooks the sand and the bay from its elevated position.
Per realestate.com.au statistics, No.43 Osborne Esplanade tipped the scales with 39,274 page views. This was almost 10,000 more than the silver medal property.
The 1916-built four-bedroom home was sold mid-year by Harrison Agents Hobart.
The sale price is undisclosed.
Harrison Agents marketing director Julia Reed said a confluence of factors made this such a successful and highly viewed home.
“The visually stunning residence, a charming, storied history, and a captivating outlook, made it a dream property to present,” Ms Reed said.

“For this campaign, we drilled down into the historical and local significance of the property.
“By leaning into the iconic status in Kingston for over 100 years and celebrating the notable events in its history, we could share this home’s incredible story with potential buyers.”
Ms Reed said the agency sales team treated this property’s marketing like “an editorial feature you would see in a glossy magazine” rather than a run-of-the-mill property transaction.
“We researched extensively and worked closely with photographer Aaron Jones to deliver visual elements of the story,” she said.
“We showcased the architecturally stunning Federation features and unmatched location and lifestyle, drawing interest from nationwide.”
Tasmania’s second most popular home of 2024 was also a historic property, but this time with a “renovator’s delight” twist.
LJ Hooker Pinnacle Property’s Ant Manton listed the mid-1860s built No.260 Harrington St, Hobart for $555,000-plus.
Since hitting the market, it has been viewed on realestate.com.au 32,039 times.
Mr Manton said the three-bedroom home needs “a lot of love and attention”.
“It offers a dream inner city location and good bones,” he said.
“It has just gone under contract this month.”
Uniqueness is always a drawcard when it comes to the properties that cause a stir online, and this glass box beachfront home on the sand dunes is a prime example.
Known as the Glass House, No.128 Bicheno St had people from all over the country captivated and daydreaming of a relocation to this Hobart Eastern Shore beach suburb. Boasting water views in opposite directions will do that.
In the week it launched onto the market, Peterswald associate director Nick Morgan fielded inquiries left and right as the four-bedroom modern marvel was Australia’s third most-viewed property.
Mr Morgan has now sold the multimillion-dollar home for an undisclosed price.
Among the homes that had a wide appeal this year were a stately stone manor in New Town; an architectural masterpiece in Birchs Bay; an 1800s Sunday school transformed into a sleek country home; and a fisherman’s dream positioned alongside Great Lake.
Often, Tasmania’s most popular properties will record about 5000 views in their first week online.
PropTrack senior economist Eleanor Creagh has told the Mercury that, in general, it’s not uncommon for people, around the world, to have a fascination with “mega mansions worth mega millions”.
“Flicking through the pictures and taking a look inside these incredible homes is a pastime for some,” Ms Creagh said.
Often the homes in these rankings have exclusivity in common, she said.
“These listings give people a chance to have a sneaky peek and marvel at the fascinating features that many of them hold,” Ms Creagh said.
