“When we drove up from the gate towards the house and went over a little rise on the driveway and saw the sea and that stunning view of West Island and The Bluff and the ocean, and then to see the house after that, Maggie and I just looked at each other and said: “This is ours’,” Mr Klingberg says.

“That’s what sold us on it. It was a bit dilapidated when we got it so we’ve done a lot to it and that’s been a labour of love, but we’re both in our 80s now and looking to do a little less.
“But it has been a wonderful home and has helped us keep fit.”
The two-storey home has five bedrooms, a spacious office and a formal lounge and dining room, while the nearby cottage has a bedroom with a kitchen and bathroom.

“Christmases were great here – for Christmas we would fill up every available bedroom with guests and it really was wonderful for that,” Mr Klingberg says.
“You can’t hear any other neighbours here, but you do hear the sea, especially when the waves crash against West Island.
“It will be hard to say goodbye, but it’s time to downsize and travel more.”
