A richlister who made a fortune selling off a childcare business has snapped up a $22.5m Qld holiday home and made it available for the experience of a lifetime on his private Airbnb-style service.
Brendan McAssey, who sold his now 80-strong childcare chain Only About Children for circa $400m over eight years ago, has been steadily buying up luxury “toys” that he makes earn their keep via a prestigious Airbnb-style service for the wealthy.

The Noosa home settled for $22.5m in December and Mr McAssey wasted no time giving it pride of place among his Beluga Charter offerings, describing the property as an “awe-inspiring paradise” which “straddles the shore of the famed Noosa River and one of the world’s 10 best surfing reserves”.
Beluga’s aim is to deliver “true elegance and sophistication” to their clientele with concierges who are “masters at designing bespoke itineraries to create refined and awe-inspiring experiences that take luxury travel to a new stratosphere”.
The “greatest appeal” of the Palm Beach style home – which Mr McAssey bought off Victorian businesswoman Jennifer Box – was “you don’t need to leave the lounge to take in the beauty and luxury of Noosa”, according to Beluga Charter.
The firm takes a three-pronged approach to its richlist services: Land, Sea and Air.
It has “a stable of luxury properties located in Sydney, Melbourne and Noosa”, a superyacht G3 which can be based in the Mediterranean, Caribbean or Oceania region with its own chef, masseuse and diving instructor, as well as a VIP seven-seat Agusta 109S Grand helicopter based at Sydney Airport available for guests.
