Jess Fitzgerald may be a lawyer by trade, but her latest win wasn’t in the courtroom – it was transforming a tired knockdown beach shack into a Palm Springs-inspired masterpiece.
Just 400m from Burleigh’s iconic coastline, 1 Symonds Road is a coastal dream of modern luxury and effortless style.
“I don’t have a creative bone in my body, but I loved every minute of designing this home,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
“I planned each room one-by-one and would spend all of my spare time googling ‘powder room aesthetic’ and the like to get ideas for the best possible look and feel.
“I guess I enjoyed it too much because we are about to do it all again.”

Ms Fitzgerald and her husband moved into the brand-new build with a five-week-old baby and will now bring along that toddler and a new 12-week-old baby to their new project – a knockdown rebuild just a few streets away.
“We always seem to build a new house when we have a new baby – not very well timed,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
The home features a sophisticated Palm Springs-inspired design, with a natural colour palette and premium finishes throughout.
From the entertainer’s dream kitchen, complete with SMEG appliances, a butler’s pantry and a feature arched nook bar with a wine fridge, to the magnesium pool framed by lush landscaping, every detail has been carefully curated for modern living.
Upstairs is a serene retreat with a luxurious master suite with double showers, walk-in robes, and custom cabinetry in every bedroom, blending elegance with functionality.
The open-plan kitchen, living, and dining areas seamlessly flow to a large covered alfresco space with a built-in BBQ, perfect for entertaining or unwinding.
Downstairs also features a spacious guest bedroom with an ensuite, a mud room with ample storage, and a powder room finished with Venetian render for a touch of luxury.
“We have overnight guests often and it is nice to be able to give people a space of their own,” Ms Fitzgerald said.
“We actually love the floorplan here so much we will be recreating it in our next home.”
Ray White Malan + Co’s Conner Malan and Daniel Donovan are marketing the property. It will go to auction on February 7.
