Chris O'Keefe and Yvonne Sampson

NRL TV presenter Yvonne Sampson and ex-radio star Chris O’Keefe have just ploughed $3.5m into their next project together.

Former 2GB Drive show host Chris O’Keefe and his wife, Fox Sports presenter Yvonne Sampson, have sold in Lilyfield and bought in Balgowlah Heights.

They pocketed $2.53m for their three-bedroom, two-bathroom inner-west property last month and bought a $3.5m three-bedroom, two-bathroom bungalow on the northern beaches.

The couple have a two-year-old son, Henry.

O’Keefe created his own news story on Friday afternoon when he resigned from 2GB, having decided to open a political consultancy business, Emerald House Advocacy.

Highlighting his vast connections, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was among the unsolicited talkback callers wishing O’Keefe all the best.

The company was registered by Maddison Accounting Services earlier this month, with O’Keefe as its foundation director.

He began his career in 2008 with an internship at the St George and Sutherland Shire Leader before joining Channel 9 in 2012 as a reporter on the Gold Coast.

He then moved into politics, reporting from both Macquarie Street and Canberra and covering four state and federal elections.

O’Keefe only took on the 2GB Drive show in early 2023, replacing Jim Wilson. His GfK ratings grew from a 7 per cent share of Sydney’s audience to 7.4 per cent.

“I’m a young father, and I’m looking at what the next 10 years looks like for me and my family,” O’Keefe told listeners.

“And, as we all do from time to time, I have had to answer that question. I’m going to open my own political and media advocacy business to help clients navigate their projects or issues through the maelstrom of government and public opinion.

“This is entirely my decision. I have decided to finish up not only in radio but in the media.

“As much as I have enjoyed my time here at 2GB, and my 13 years at Nine, the time is right for me to make the call to move on.”

They had initially sought $2.6m to $2.7m for property. It had been bought in 2021 for $2.4m.
