Recently retired Richmond football great Dustin Martin has sold his first home in an after-the-siren auction result locked in shortly after it passed in.
The Albert Park property attracted bidding up to $1.76m before passing in, and is understood to have sold for about $1.8m after further negotiation with one of two bidders that competed for the home.
The result is a win for the three-time Premiership player’s post-footy life, effectively locking in the top of the home’s $1.7m-$1.8m price range.

Ex-Richmond Tigers great, Brownlow Medallist Dustin Martin lists Albert Park first home
Martin, who collected a Brownlow and three Norm Smith medals, has come close to doubling his money after putting the Victorian terrace in Albert Park under the hammer about 12 years after he paid $993,000 for it.
A handy windfall for his retirement from AFL.
He lived in the home for a number of years, before tenanting it as an investment property.
Nick Johnstone Real Estate auctioneer Nick Johnstone received limited response for the 43 Kerferd Rd property as he commenced the auction, with the first offer a $1.7m vendor bid.
About 10 minutes of cajoling later a young family put an extra $10,000 on the sum, and a second bidder countered with the same.
It was the second party that went on to win the bidding battle, with a $1.76m bid on which the home passed in.
Mr Johnstone said the result was a good sign for the market that had raised his confidence 2025 would be a better year for Melbourne home sellers.
“It’s a steady result, and hindsight will tell us it was a very good buy,” Mr Johnstone said.
“It’s a great street, right in the action and there are homes a few doors up that are worth $4m-plus.
“And I think in the past few weeks we have had some pretty strong results, which is a good sign for the market and I’m now pretty bullish about next year. I think everyone will come back with renewed enthusiasm.”
Post-auction negotiations appeared to involve Martin’s long-time manager Ralph Carr, seen nearby during the auction.
It is understood Dusty is currently in New Zealand.
The result comes as the champion player looks to kick off his retirement from on-field play with millions in real estate sales, including a series of commercial properties, also involving Mr Carr.
Dusty retired at the end of the 2024 AFL season after 302 games with the Richmond Football Club.
Dusty will also be hoping for a strong result next week as a commercial property he is a part owner of concludes an expressions of interest campaign.
It is expected the 401-407 Victoria St, Abbotsford, property could make more than $9m.
A syndicate that also included Martin’s manager Ralph Carr bought the properties over a number of years for a combined $4.7m before combining them.
Another commercial property that Martin is connected with at 367 Victoria St will be sold next year by Paul Jones Real Estate, which is also handling the sale of No. 401-407.
