If it’s a family lifestyle you’re looking for – the kind where your kids can safely walk to and from school each day – you’ll find it in this stunning Marryatville home.
Mikaila and Luke bought the 10a Dudley Rd home in 2014, attracted by its location and opportunity for them to leave their mark on a classic.
“It had a calm presence and fantastic airflow, with beautiful high ornate ceilings and big bedrooms,” Mikaila says.
“It’s got this beautiful ivy wall at the back, so it’s a massive wall of green for six months of the year, and then it drops its leaves and you see the bare vine which is beautiful.

“We’ve got two girls – one was in year two when we moved in, and the other was two – and it’s been a fantastic family home and in just the most wonderful location. The kids went to Marryatville Primary and they walked there from as soon as they were able to, and they go to the high school now.
“Not having to get in a car and drive kids to school in the morning is just heaven. Also, with Woolworths just over the back fence it really is so convenient. You’d think it might be noisy, being close to Kensington Rd or the shopping centre, but it’s really quiet. You actually can’t hear a thing.”
After buying, the couple immediately set about renovating the property throughout, injecting a contemporary touch, an abundance of storage and, most notably, a swimming pool in the rear yard.

“We removed 100 tons of dirt to level the space to put the pool in and then we removed another 100 tons for the pool itself, so it was a big project and what we’ve done to it has been a beautiful addition,” Mikaila says.
“It’s a fantastic entertainer – we’ve had many a party here and we’ve been the hosts for all of our friend’s shindigs. There are so many different areas to flow into, so it really ticks all boxes.”
The home has four bedrooms – or three and a lounge – another lounge area, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space at the rear. A covered alfresco area overlooks both the pool and the home’s low-maintenance landscaped gardens.

“Everyone that comes here loves it – even the postman comments on it,” Mikaila says. “They’re all blown away by it and everyone that walks in says it has such a nice energy about it.”
Mikaila says the home would be ideal for another family, a professional couple, or even downsizers.
“We’re really proud of it, what we’ve turned it into is beautiful and amazing and it’s just so comfortable to live in,” she says.
The home is on the market without a price guide through Karen Lombe of Harris Real Estate, with expressions of interest closing March 25.
